Easter Camp 2008 Print E-mail

This is an account of the team from Northern Ireland who led the camp under the direction of Henryk Podsiadly. The camp took place from 20th-25th of March in Warsaw Baptist Seminary. There were 157 people who attended this camp, including 24 of our own team members and approximately 100 children. There were also a number of other leaders, who were a huge blessing in their attempts of translation throughout the week and in the general care of each child.

We as a team thoroughly enjoyed the camp including the challenges faced. The theme we chose for the camp was “The Armour of God” which was communicated through the morning and evening talks and was supported by the workshops which incorporated  different forms of learning techniques.

As a Christian team our focus was to see God change the stereotypical view of class structure and welfare among the children. Our main aim was to alter the current views of class prejudice so that among future generations, relationships will become much more important than differentiation. This all starts with the children of each camp.

We really felt that the children benefited from their experience here knowing their backgrounds, we feel privileged in providing a stable environment for the short time they were with us. It was clear that the children enjoyed themselves thoroughly and this was evident on the last day as they left with teary eyes and heavy hearts, as did we.

It is difficult to describe what we as a team have learned from this experience, and take back with us, but we are confident that our new appreciation for Poland and its people will speak for itself.

We are hopeful that the camps will continue and that we can return and be a part of the ever growing, colourful and progressive future of Poland. One child at a time.
