When we arrived at the Warsaw Airport, the first smiling face we saw was Henryk’s. He immediately took us to the school where we would be staying for the next week. The name of the school is ‘Jedrus’

Image

The Jedrus School is a self-contained facility where the children stay from Sunday to Friday afternoon. These children were the ones who attended the Bible camp that the Christian Radosc Foundation sponsored.

Our culture is so different from Polish culture. Henryk and Grazyna (Henryk’s wife) were such gracious hosts; they made us feel right at home. Henryk has been our constant companion,  tour guide, and spiritual leader for the past eleven days.

After we dropped our luggage off, we went straight to work loading the vans with food. Henryk stores the food to be distributed in his garage. Our team assisted in distributing 6 metric tons of food from Wednesday to Saturday. And this was only half of the food to be distributed this month.

Image

The Foundation is in desperate need of a truck designed to haul heavy loads. The food is currently distributed from two 9-passenger mini-vans with the seats removed. Henryk makes his food drops to Poland’s hungry and needy no matter what the weather. It rained much this first week, but water does not stop him. We went right through the water and mud because there were hungry children that depended on Uncle Henryk to feed them.

We may try to convince ourselves that there is nothing we can do to make a difference in someone’s life. This trip has proven just the opposite. One person does make a difference, and his name is Henryk. He makes a difference one child at a time, one family at a time. 6 God has given us a new vision – to get Henryk a new truck designed to carry the heavy cargo for his food deliveries. If he had a new truck, he could pick up the food and leave it on the truck instead of having to load and unload it from his garage and into the small minivans he uses now. It is very difficult for Henryk to have the manpower needed to constantly move 12 metric tons of food monthly. He depends on volunteers.

We witnessed 38 souls won to Jesus Christ last night during chapel service. God has used these precious children to strip away my ideas and beliefs of what it means to be a Christian. The book of James tells us that pure religion and undefiled before God the Father is this, ‘to visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world’.

Image

For the last 12 days I have lived James 1:22- Be ye doers of the Word and not hearers only… I will never be the same!!!

If you are ready for a change, just contact Henryk. If you are content and comfortable in the place where you are, call him anyway. You won’t be sorry!
